Planning your retirement

Using your savings

How to make a plan

You’ll need to know how much you’ll need to live off and how much you have saved up to make a plan for your retirement. Think about how you want to live in retirement. What will you be doing? When do you want it to start?

To help you think about how much you’ll need, you can use our Budget Planner and the Retirement Living Standards website. You’ll also need to think about how much you have saved up – in your account with the SEI Master Trust and with any other pension providers – and what you might get from the state. You can log in to your pension account to find out how much you might get at retirement and use the Pension Planner to see how changing your retirement date or how much you pay in might affect that. For a State Pension forecast, go to www.gov.uk/check-state-pension.

We recommend seeing a financial adviser periodically. The MoneyHelper website has useful information about finding and using financial advisers.

You can also find lots of help online. Below is a list of useful websites and contacts.

What to expect from us

When you are 6 months from your Target Retirement Age you will receive a retirement pack explaining your options for accessing your SEI Master Trust savings. Once you’ve read through and decided you’d like to access your savings, you need to return the form included in your retirement pack confirming the options you’re interested in, or contact the Administration Team directly. They will arrange for you to receive a quotation based on your chosen option(s) which will include all the details of how much you will get and the forms you need to complete to retire.

If you decide you don’t want to access your benefits just yet, that’s fine. But make sure the choices you have made on your account are still right for you, in particular your investment choice and your Target Retirement Age.

Once we have received all of the forms we need for your chosen retirement option(s) and all of our requirements have been met, payment of your benefits can take up to eight weeks in accordance with the monthly payroll cut-off dates.
